    Chef,
I was at an empty house today to carryout a gas check in the rear garden was a large blue barrel used as a water butt.

The tap was as per your Homebase one and was fitted using a set of washer's one convex on the inside of the barrel and one concave on the outside. This took up the curvature of the barrel whilst providing a flat surface for the tap flange and back nut. The barrel was full so they worked OK just nobody there to ask where they came from.
