Tomato Legend Problem

I decided to grow blight resistant toms (Legend and Ferline) this year after losing my crop for the 2nd year last year. All are growing great, except for the first 2 Legends to get fruit.

They are a large tom, but even when small i could tell they were not right. Some plants now seem to be ok but a few are like this - any idea what has caused it?

Any help would be gratefully received!

I'm probably wrong but is it blossom end rot. I think something to do with watering?

Not sure of the problem but I've had tomatoes set looking similar to yours and still had edible fruit when ripe (you have to cut a bit off) - so I'd leave them to ripen on the plant and cross your fingers!

I don't think it's blossom end rot, I think you are seeing the results of a fused first flower. They are common with beefsteak types. It's a bit corky in texture but you can just cut it off. If you have any more like that don't pull them off, let them ripen. The tomato is fine - it's not a disease and it's not your fault!

I think it may be a bit of BER and a bit of normal beef toms end. If you have them in pots it probably is a bit of BER. Try to keep your water regime more constant.

I've stopped growing Legend because not only are the fruits ugly (so they all look like that ) but the plants are a PITA and sprawl everywhere. IMHO Ferline are way superior.

Thanks all for your advice, i am not the most consistent of waterer as i am away a bit but will definitely make a conscious effort to water them (and leave them on the plant!)
