Chicken Poo!

Hi,

i have 2 chickens (great eggs) can i throw their poo straight on the veg garden or is it best to compost it with all my other materials?
i heard it may be too strong to throw straight on???

mine goes straight on the fruit plants but iw ould let it rot down for the veg bed and only use it why you are going to plant spuds as they like acid soil and rotate the beds on a four year plan then the whole lot will get its fair share and not change the structure of the soil

I`d say it would be too strong just now, may burn your plants, compost it for next year maybe, it`s good stuff though! I had a supply of parrot poo, which I dug in to an empty area on my lottie, then left it to over winter ready for the next years crops. my supply stopped unfortunately, thinks the parrot fell off it`s perch!!
