I'll be getting my seeds from the allotments seed catalogue from Kings Seeds as we get up to 50% off but some of the old guys on our allotment rave about the seed tapes that Lidl sell! I've not have much luck we Lidl seeds in the past though so will not be trying there seed tape.Chris

I used seed tape from Lidls for carrots this year - can't remember the variety as the ink faded from my labels but they did better than the ones sown the normal way and haven't been as affected by carrot fly despite the fact I didn't fleece them.
this is the first year I've had any success with carrots so I'll definately use them again next year.

I don't use them purely because I don't grow in straight lines and like to plant closer together (I know....I know...) I station sow which seems to work pretty well, raise them in modules then plant out the plants when they are big enough to handle. I know it's a faff but seems to work the best for me.
I know you can make your own using kitchen towel and wallpaper paste (non fungaside ones) and then bury the home made ones the same way as the seed tapes.
