  • furry lettuce seedlings

hi just started gardening an allotment three months ago, i've sown some lettuce in a box in my green house, all as instructed by Percy Thrower. Now they have started to germinate and got to about 4mm, however some have white fuzz on thier stalks, is this normal.

I had a look at some germinating brassica seedlings I've got on the windowsill, and there's some white fuzz right by the seed casing (clearly haven't covered all my seeds over properly!), but I thought they were just tiny, tiny roots?

thanks i'll see if they keel over or not. probably just worrying unneccessarly as they are the first thing i've grown from seed. It is also my first time threading on a forum, and i think i lost the thread with pea sticks.

Yep - sorry PD, didn't mean to confuse! If you can stick around we have a good old laugh with a Sunday Night forum - lots of us about, but suggest you don't try to understand more than about 20% of what's going on - that's my average, anyway!
