Never grown podded peas before so finding it a bit daunting to try growing them through the winter! When should I sow them? Is it best to sow direct into the ground or start them off undercover?
Variety - Meteor
October/November is the time one sows green peas. Make sure they are the the round ones as they are much hardier than the wrinkled ones, which should be planted in Spring.

Ollie, you don't have autumn planting on your link? Just autumn harvest.
The peas are going to have to stand outside all winter, enduring gales & frost. Therefore you don't want them too tall and lanky before winter, or you'll only damage all that top growth: ie don't sow them too early.
Mine will go in October
