hi i rather supidley left my strawberrys out in that severe cold when it snow i piled a decent amount on top so the worst of the forst wasted getting to the plants themselves is there any chance they will have surrvived?
also is it normal for red buds to be on rhubarb timperly early this time of year

Strawbs are exceedingly hardy. They are likely to look rubbush at the moment but there will be new shots coming before too long. My rhubarb isn't showing but then, it isn't an earflky variety. I'd be inclined to bung a load of home made compost or any other available organic stuff on top. It will benefit from the compost anyway.

Yes I think the strawberries will be fine. Mine seem to have come through OK.

I too was surprised to discover fresh new rhubarb shoots poking through when I had a walk round my garden yesterday.

Strawberries are as tough as old boots and will come through in the spring again. The frost tends to kill off any leaves that are still on the plant.
My rhubarb is showing signs of life, I put it down to the cover of snow keeping off the frost and forcing the rhubarb. A good mulch on the rhubarb will be fine.

As others have said, strawberries should be fine. I have read somewhere that if they have a cold spell and you then bring them inside it will encourage them to fruit earlier!
