  • Hello

Just thought we should introduce ourselves having "borrowed" a half plot until December Myself and partner, Pippa, have just spent our first day at the weekend digging out a 12 x 5 x 2 bed and sieving all back in. Needless to say the muscles have been creaking a bit but the result compensated for the backache.

We are on the waiting list for our own plot here in Leeds, on the same site as present. Do any local grapes know of a scource of scaffold board worth trying please? We intend to raise the beds when we have obtained our own.

Great forums and thanks for some valuable reading already!

hi - which site are you on in leeds? i'm on oakwood lane site (next to fearnville sports centre) if you try local scaffolding co's they are usually happy to get rid of old/cracked ones cause they cant use them for H&S reasons
    Happy growing

Thanks for the welcome and hi.

We are on the Burley Model Allotment site, just down from the Headingley cricket ground. Good advice re the local firms, I shall start a hitlist. There is a temptation to really go to town on the borrowed plot and we have to keep reminding ourselves that we have to hand it back around Xmas. As I said HOPEFULLY we will have our own soon.
We have several friends on this site and enjoyed a bit of a wander around the other day, getting a few ideas. The commitee members seem very friendly as well.
Just started the spuds off so hope to be planting soon, tomato seeds are sprouting on the windowcill ...It's all good stuff!
