fibre pots for seedlings or not?

Am unsure as to whether these pots are good or not-mixed emotions on them it seems on here,bit late now i bought a 96 pack and already transplanted to them but opinions please would be helpful-do you use them or steer clear?

The roots grow into the sides and they don't break down quick enough.

The sides act as a wick and draw the moisture up

The roots grow in and you have to rip the things to bits to plant stuff.

i'm ok with the little pots but i have never ever had any success with those things that look like large pills and then you add water and they swell up (do they have a name other than total waste of money TWOMs)so i shall never buy them again.

I don't mind those, as long as you remember to take the net off. And the fact that they are peat which of course I would avoid buying. But if someone gifted me a bag, I'd use them.

Loo roll inners filled with compost are much better, and cheaper too.

I tried the peat pots last year and didn't get on too well them. I prefer to re-use old yoghurt pots to get seedlings going.

Normally I wouldn't touch them wit ha barge pole, but am growing loads of stuff for our centenary garden and have had to resort to using them for the pretty stuff......wouldn't consider them for veg, loo rolls for them ......

Tried them, don't like them, don't use them anymore. You might have more success with them if you're very, very careful.

Nope. Watering is very tricky. Either the pot stays hard (so the roots don't grow out as intended) or the plant is soggy. Neither is good.

My dad always used peat pots for his runner beans so when I first started out I followed suit - didn't realise there was an issue with peat back then (but to be honest, we were all much less aware 15-20 years ago). Found they dried out quite bit but used them for a few years (although obviously not the same ones!) but never for smaller seedlings. Then I discovered root trainers and much prefer them for my beans etc. Tried Jiffy 7s ones too but didn't really like them much and it was about that time I stopped using peat too. Newspaper pots for small seedlings and modules / root trainers for bigger stuff works well for me However if anybody wants any peat pots etc there are probably some old ones lying about in some corner of my shed!
