first time growing red onion

Hi all this year iv popped in some red onions they have good leave growth but the bulbs seem to be dry and empty is this normal or will they end up dieing?

Hi Graham, if you are talking about onion sets this is not unusual, this is the state of mine today.

Hey thanks colin my leaves are abit longer but look same do you know when they will start to swell?

Not for a while yet they are really a late summer early autumn crop.
