Raddish query

Hi
How do I know when my raddishes are ready? I planted them from seed on 16th april, and they have about 3 leaves on them. Does the red bulb bit show in the soil?

I am new to all of this and my raddish are my first veg i planted.

I think you will be able to see the top of the radish. Mine have about four/five leaves and nice red stems but are not ready yet - going to wait another fortnight

You'll be able to see the "shoulders" poking up out of the soil briggsy, it will be clear when they're ready to get them out of the ground. It's exciting isn't it?

I pulled one of mine up today as I could see the shoulders and got excited. It was about the size of cheesy wotsit (random!) so I stuck it back in again.

I look out for a peep of red shoulder, then prod gently around to check there's something there before yanking them up, wiping on jeans and eating!
Three leaves doesn't sound like they're ready though, mine have the original 2 (which become very large) and 3 more of a different shape, I think, it could be more.
Pull one up and see, you can always pop it back in. i have found sowing them in pots produces alot larger, quicker growth and a more even texture as you can ensure they're getting enough water to stop them going woody!
