How old are you and how long have you grown ya own?

35 y/o just started this past month back (something for me and the kids to do really) but found i'm already addicted to garden centres and these kind of forums etc.

Can't wait to taste some of our home grown stuff...

I'm 38 and this is my third year of growing veg properly in my tiny veg bed. I think I am going to surpass myself this year with the amount I've managed to fit in it. I experiment each year with spacing. I don't take a lot of notice of the recommended spacing. If I know roughly how big the plants will get I guestimate spacing of other crops around them from that. This probably means I get a rubbish crop, compared with what it could be. But, I get a more varied crop, and I really enjoy growing a wide variety of things.

I should apply for an allotment, shouldn't I.

33 here, been doing the easy stuff like potatoes and tomatoes since I was 10-11 when my folks gave me my own little bit of garden .
Only started seriously trying to get some real produce in the last 2 years since my wife got pregnant and I wanted to make sure my son had as much fresh as I could grow.

We've got a bit of land with the house, so have made a veg plot there instead of getting an allotment...

Always grown flowers and some years runner beans, but I'm getting more serious about it now, although my garden is only a pocket hanky (not even big enough to be a handkerchief!).

I've had a look at the vacant private lotties in the village, but I'm not sure I could cope with an entire lottie of 8ft high brambles on my own.

Im 47 and its the first year ive been really serious about GYO. Ive always dabbled in a few toms and runner beans but nothing much really.

Now im serious about good fresh food not sprayed with rubbish and GM etc..so ive got into it BIGTIME!!.....my gardens been almost totally changed with square foot gardening and large beds...who needs a big lawn eh?
Its just got me totally addicted now and like many others i still find it amazing what comes from a small seed....this site is a wealth of info too and i dont know what i would have done without it being such a novice.

I am 26 and this is my first year of truly growing some veg.

I have always had a few herbs on the go, and my mum is an amazing flower-gardener but I had always told myself to wait until I had a proper garden before I put what she has taught me with my love of (mostly weird) veg.

But, in April, I just had the biggest craving to grow some stuff, just see what I could do. I wanted purple carrots and yellow toms and nasturtium flowers in my salads! In the last month what was whim has become a full on addiction - I can see how the rest of you get hooked for life!

Can't wait for all the baby leaves and shoots and buds to get big enough to make that first salad now.

i started with my grandad,aged 5/6 ,then a gap until i got married,cant stand soaps so started gardening again,and that was 35yrs ago now,so i am starting to get the hang of it now........

You may find the assoication will clear the plot of them for you, mine did it for free..
