  • I'm closer to 40 than I am 30 - and started growing with intent about 4 years ago. Prior to that I'd only ever "grown" pansies in hanging baskets.

I can't declare myself a committed gardener - but I am in it for the long haul.

          • I'm 65.
I started growing veg after taking early retirement from nursing 2 years ago.I have neighbours up & down & across the road all doing the same.We share seeds/knowledge/ignorance and generally help each other out.I'm the only container grower on the road & my windowsills, hanging baskets & garage roof 'lottie' are much admired.
This year I managed to 'steal' a 6ft x 2ft strip in the front garden for a raised bed and hubby put up a blow away for me in a tiny corner at the top of the back garden, I guess I'm well & truly hooked.
It's the most rewarding activity I've ever known :-D

            • I'm 45 and I started 3yrs ago growing a bit of salad stuff in a trough my dad made me for the purpose. It didn't take long for the gardening bug to bite and I've now dug out the entire back lawn (well my dad did) , erected a greenhouse ( erm...dad again) and built a couple of raised bed (ok dad did that too). Honestly the actual sowing, planting etc is down to me!

              • I've just turned 37. I've had my lottie three and a half years, but started gardening when I moved in with my (now) husband 12 years ago. I mostly grew ornamentals, but moved into tomatoes very quickly, and then the bug got me. Spring wouldn't be Spring without my precious seed collection

                • I'm 28 and started 4yrs ago when we bought our house, there was already a 8*6 greenhouse so we proceeded to turn a chunk of the garden to beds, filled them so I turned even more to beds, filled them so decided to get an allotment, luckily for us we have some private ones about 6 miles from home with no waiting list(well back then anyway), and we managed to get a double plot (£22 p/y per plot inc water), we then started the war on weeds (we still have to odd incursion now and again). Luckily for us this year we were gifted a 14'*10' greenhouse which has replaced the old one.

                  • I am 33, I think, I am already getting to the stage where I have to check with my husband how old I am!

I have been growing for 3 years, started in the garden and now we have a plot and a half of allotment, I say 'we', he just comes and watches every now and then! lol.

And Popela I am totally with you, If someone had said I would be growing my own and have 17 chickens, some for the table! I probably would have peed myself laughing!
                    Little ol' me

                    Has just bagged a Lottie!
Oh and the chickens are taking over my garden!

                      • Nearly 54, and been a flower growing nut for years, and I've got about 40 tubs and baskets on the go just now, Dahlia and Petunia being among my favourites, I've got some really beautiful blooms growing just now, but I've just started groaning on my own in the last few months, I've been told when it hurts I must be doing some good, but with me being in pain all the time, how will I know when I have done some good

                        • I'm 31 and really started getting into GYO when we moved into our current house 4 years ago which had a 3/4 acre garden which was all grass when we moved in. Now one corner of it houses my own veg patch including a Raspberry bed, Currant / Gooseberry bed, three apple trees, asian pear tree, damson tree and 8x10 greenhouse, not to mention the veg beds!

                          • I'm 32 and we bought our house in Dec 10. I've gone completely mad for veg growing in that short space of time. So much so that we're not going away on holiday this year - we're spending it in the garden!! :-)
