  • such exciting news!

well it is for me anyhow... we have our first ever tomatoes! two garden pea sized tomatoes!!! i cant explain how exciting it was to discover them yesterday morning...i must update my blog...i have nearly three weeks worth of pics to catch up with, what with work, decorating our bedroom and being on slug watch...time has just flown by.
Is it normal to be so over the moon that for once something has actually gone to plan? the variety is Sungold F1, and the plant has gone from a tiny seedling to a huge monster with plenty of flowers and taking over the greenhouse in just over 8 weeks! God help me when everything else is ready to eat...i won't be able to cope with such an ordeal! x

Well done Hanna I don't think there's anything wrong with being excited. For me, that's the whole point of growing your own - seeing something that you've grown from a little tiny seed turning into dinner

Well done and just wait till you taste Sungold you will never want a shop bought tom again.

If they are in containers now is the time to start with a high potash feed to help grow the fruit.

Well done Hanna. I must admit, I'm like a big kid when it comes to pumpkins, they're fabulous. I've even got some blue ones this year.

Isn't it brilliant! And don't worry, it's completely normal - even after many years of growing my own (25+ years for tomatoes) I'm still just as excited by the first tomatoes of the year. . .and the first potatoes/asparagus/corn/beans/kale etc etc

well by the looks of it tonight there will be plenty more on the way by the end of the week, and the big news of the blowaway today is that a 'cutting' i took from the tom plant a while ago, and had in water on the window sill in the kitchen to grow itself some roots) that i potted up about three weeks ago, has its first lot of flowers!! it worked...im sooo pleased! and the sparkler radish seem to be doing fantastically well! What wonderful weather we had today...may it continue!! xx

Only had strawbs, salad leaf ,cabbage and spring onions so far from the garden but the fumes are grown loads as are the courgettes and toms .so soon very soon I hope!!!
