crack whore in a poppy field still gets me every time
fear not, today I managed the grand total of 6 tiny strawberries, your harvest will pick up, as will your beans [hopefully mine too], and my courgettes are the size of a very small toothpick, so wheyy heyyy to you!!!
apparently, the secret of potatoes in bags and stuff is to water them really really well when they're swelling.
well done chitfaced! great to see that your carrots are doing well, and everything else looks like it won't be far behind! keep the vids coming...it makes me feel like me thinking my mini miracles are totally fab is normal, and its not too barking to get sooo excited about the smallest of achievements! keep up the good work...have left comment on your blog too! x
Your posts and videos always make me smile and cheer me up. Keep up the good work. As already said, spuds in bags need a lot more water/feed than in the ground as any rain tends to run off the leaves and gets lost. I usually carefully lay out an old sheet, carefully tip the bag onto its side and slide the spuds out onto the sheet. It's easier to have a furtle that way and then the haulms with any tiny spuds can be carefully put back into the bag, soil just as carefully added and they MAY grow on a little bit more.
Noted all your helpful comments re spuds, thank you one and all!
It's funny how being a novice I feel I need permission in order to 'ave at it and pull something up! It almost seems like I'm doing something I shouldn't every time I unearth a poor veg. I'm sure I'll get used to that. I am educating the camera man by means of digital technology which is the preferred language... clever eh? All part of me getting my raised beds next year. Ho ho ho
Well that made me feel better, the lack of abundance in my veg beds is a constant source of amusement to my family, emptied one bag of earlies out last wk and luckily the old man was eating out cause half a dozen marbles weren't going to feed us both, cucumbers are a nightmare, only got to look at them the wrong way and they keel over and die. Have had a few successes, got 18 big garlic heads from 16 bulbs, toms are doing great and if it was all plain sailing I think I'd get bored(no chance)
