We've been away for a few days, our son was asked to water our tubs baskets and garden, guess what, he didn't, and with the heat, you wouldn't have wanted to see the place, and hear what I had to say, we lost a couple of baskets, even watering didn't help them to come back, then there's a tub that looks like its not been watered for weeks, and the garden!!!! but, deep joy, my Capsicum is in flower, a good job I leave its pot to stand in a tray of water, at least its came through our break alright, and a good job I put the tomato's in the shade, I still don't know why I did that, I really wonder if its a good job the dogs knew where their food is stored, children eh!!!...............sometimes I really wish we'd had our Granddaughter first.

Here's hoping we have the same when we get back from visiting relatives.

Peppers/Chillies can take a bit of neglect in terms of watering. I leave mine to pretty much dry out before I water again - it's always worked for me.
Since I had a similar experience (MIL, mind - drowning my plants) I've setup an auto watering system, and when we go away next year when I'll have a load of seedlings I'll have my sink full of water and a capillary mat draped across the work top with them all resting on it.
