  • Uhh, I think we have a problem.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here, it's been raining ALL day. And as a result, the entire garden is under at least a foot of water. Not good for the veggies I don't think. I'll try to upload photos. But mine were taken from inside, as I'm not brave enough to venture out. Plus, my wellies leak, as my dad found out. He took the outdoor photos

The third picture, is a little stream / culvert that runs down the bottom of our garden and underneath. It's usually just a trickle. If you stand in it, there's a concrete ledge that's about 4-5foot high, and then our garden wall (slate, in photo) is another 2 foot above that. And this is the new water level.

I do believe we have a problem. May need to start again with the winter veggies, especially as the forecast says we haven't had the worst of this weather yet.

Ah well. Good old Wales. :P

    Blummin heck!

We haven't had that here (thank goodness). Hope you don't all float away overnight!
    Happy Gardening,

Lucky you. Hope you don't get any of it either. I have no idea what will still be there when the water goes down, or whether any of it will live to tell the tale, so to speak. But we'll see.

And my garden is dry as a bone and I have ZERO water in the butts.

Weird old place the UK, innit.

Berlimey, Mazz. You don't need wellies, you need a boat! Hope it all goes without causing you any more grief.

Oh yes! Maybe your own salt marsh! Nope - not close enough to the coast. Mountain Spring Water Co,?!

You should see the waterfalls coming off the mountains behind us. If they're still there in the morning I'll get a photo or two to show you. They're quite beautiful really, but only there when we get heavy rainfall.

I'm just glad the drains out the front have been fixed; it nearly flooded into the kitchen last year straight off the main road.

Wow. Update; a couple of hours ago my parents phoned the council to ask if anything could be done about the culvert at the bottom, and they've just arrived in the darkness in their florrie jackets! Apparently there's quite bad flooding around the Pwllheli area, about an hour's drive from us, but they're here, and the water's gone down quite a bit. Let's hope it stays that way.

Good you've managed to keep your sense of humour through it all.

I have hill walked and camped many times in Snowdonia. It's gorgeous when it's dry and gloomy when it is wet. You have my sympathy. It's the only place I have seen horizontal rain!

A bit of rain will never dampen my humour. I'm British, after all

I've found that most of the tourists come here on a rainy day because it's just somewhere to drive or catch the train to on a rainy day. So people rarely see it when it's sunny here. It's a shame really. Horizontal rain? When it's really windy, the waterfalls are even horizontal!
