Seed Sower tool

Hello, first post here:

Has anyone ever used a seed sowing tool before like these:

Seed Sower ECM

The reason I ask is I have a couple of wolf garten multi-change handles already that I use with some other attachments (rake, weeding knife etc - all really good by the way) but I'm looking to get into growing my own vegetables. Has anyone used something like this? Worth having? And what is the benefit from the more expensive one?

Never used one. can't imagine what one would have over the other except the cheaper one seems to have a bigger seed reservoir.

The advantages seem to be a) you can sow the seeds without bending your back and b) you can sow with precision which should mean you have no thinning to do.

Personally, I'm quite happy to sow by hand and to thin out as necessary when weeding. That way I can select the strongest plants and discard the weaker ones. I've no problems with my back so no great advantage for me.

I remember my father had a similar device in the 1950's - It was absolute rubbish!!

They could be invaluable if you have a large area maybe? Or dexterity issues?

They only really work with round seeds & then only if there is a hole of the correct diameter,at least that is what I have been told

Friend tried one and said it only worked if everything was bone dry and even then he still got clumps where several seeds had come through together.

I can see absolutely no use for one of these what so ever. I tried something similar a few years ago and binned it after a few weeks.

Most gardeners now sow into modules or something similar and allow there plants to grow to optimum size before planting out.

If one has dexterity problems I would think one of the pneumatic type single seed sowers would be a better bet.

I got one free and it wasa absolute rubbish - all the small seeds went through at once.
