Dog scent does not deter foxes. I had 2 small dogs - fox took my chooks. My neighbour had 4 big dogs, including 2 alsatians - fox took his chooks. I rest my case.

Well that's scrubbed that idea then. I thought she would have known what she was talking about because she said her daughter breeds chucks!

After doing some research, I have found that the active ingredient in most of the branded fox repellers is a chemical called aluminum ammonium sulphate, and have decided to buy some of that and make my own deterrent spray.

My neighbour has a trap. We bait it with meat and shoot them..

It is of course illegal to catch foxes and then release them into the wild.

Lottie Dolly, I think it could have been I who suggested Man Pee. I got the info from a neighbour who grew up on a farm. Before he took himself a wife, it was his job to personally donate said liquid every night around the henhouses. He assured me they never lost a chook on his watch.
