  • Miniature Vegetables

Has anyone out there grown miniature veg before. I am going to grow Cauliflower Idol this year, basically cause I'm only one who eats it, so no point growing brutes of things when the space can be used for something we all eat. I'm looking for advice on spacings and any other hints or advice as I'm not sure if mini's need any special treatment ?
    Cheers

Grow them just like ordinary ones Rat. If you space them at 2ft you'll get biguns, 6" apart in all directions and you'll get them the size that they sell in the super markets for about twice the cost of ordinary jobbies!

I wouldn't so them all at once thoy else you'll be havin cauli's with everything including sarnies

I grow baby carrots in windowboxes and I have always done well with them, this year I'm thinking of mixing the seed in with lettuce leafs (mix of my own including mizuna), to ward off carrot fly and to give an attractive look. I will also do this with radish in another box (which when you think about it, they are mini veg as we pick them small).

We've grown Idol its good and tasty - grew them at 9" spacing cos we wanted lots of little ones not one big one!

Hi Rat, I grow Parmex and it always does great. Also grow in containers so can put the container up high out of reach of carrot fly.
