Compost bin help..

[vegtable newbie!]

I want to put two compost bins on allotment, homebase have one reduced at the moment, £13. I am worried about rats though! Should I put it on paving slabs? Should I buy worms to go into it? Should I just chuck it on the grass and let it get on with it? It will predominantly be allotment waste going into them!

You'll probably get rats whatever you do. Putting it on slabs would help. The worms will find their way in on the roots of the weeds etc you will chuck in and anyway worms are not essential

My council sell black Daleks for £5. Check with yours as they may have a similar deal.

i now have 4 daleks and never seen a rat, mind you we do have 2 cats and one is a killer but havent seen any evidence of it at all.

i jsut throw the stuff in, if you stand it on the soil worms will find it more easily was some advice i once read.

I would say put it on the soil, and as for the rats or mice mines been sat there for a couple of years with no bother

don't spend your money, ask on freecycle first if you want a dalek.
