My next silly question is, how tall do cucumber plants grow?.

Depends on the variety. They need support unless you're growing them outside and letting them sprawl. I used to grow them in the greenhouse and trained them up a cane to the roof and then along a wire the length of the roof.

I have a small greenhouse (6' x 6') and I train my strings up to the roof, via the eves and then pinch them out. Outside I either grow them up canes or in the past my sweetcorn. They'll grow to about 4', tying them to the support as I go.

Mine grow up netting at the end of the greenhouse and then along a string from end to end. In a good year they can reach the other end.

Of course you can pinch them out if you need to control them

They can easily grow 10' or so but you can stop them whenever you want. I usually train up canes / string to the top of the tunnel and then tie into strings tied to the wind bracing. I've also trained them over cheap Lidl arches in the past with the fruits hanging downwards.

If they are anything like the ones I grew last year in my green house, about eight foot tall !
