Hi Folks

After a busy weekend i am the proud owner "kind of " a well-established Allotment....

Uploaded an image of it but haven't got a clue what to grow kind of like a kid in a sweet shop.

An ideas welcome.....



I also have a fruit cage with strawberries in:



i have cleared a bit on Sunday taking the dead out etc but this will be there last year and dont know if to replace the lot rather than cutting it all back.




Any help or opinion’s really appreciated

lucky him mine had weeds higher than I am tall _ I has to go at it with a scyth!

I had to clear the raise beds and do some running repairs still working on it now.

Yep the polytunnel is part of it as well.

I am looking after it for a friend of mine her husband died and was a very keen Gardner shes kept the plot going to keep his memory going but gardening/veg growing wasnt her thing more his.


Was just wondering if anyone had advise on those strawberrys and what to grow got a few ideas but its a massive learing curve which i am gonig to enjoy.

Thanks rustylady might book Friday off work or do it Saturday but drawn a plan up thinking of grow onions red/white garlic in one raiseded bed parsnips carrots beetroot leeks, beans in another mixture of potatoes.

How old are the strawberries? They really only last three years and then need replacing. I take on a new row every year and dispose of a row so that there is never a fallow period.

Hi novice Jim. The plot looks great.........good luck.......

However a word of warning. Our allotment agreements are not assignable. Spouses can only take over with special permission. Friends of allotment holders....like yourself.....would be evicted from our allotment to make way for one of the 124 people on the waiting list!

You should check this out before putting in too much effort..........
