I'd like some of those deep pots too, but not enough to pay 75p each for them I'll have a look in LBS next time I'm over there and see what they have

I have looked everywhere for them since Auntie Flo asked. I can't find anything exactly like them, similar size yes but no where near the same quality. These are 90mm square at the rim and 200mm deep, they are made out of thick plastic and have groove shapes on the vertical plain to give added strength and aid removing the plant from the pot.

Just hoping my mate can give me some ideas tomorrow.

Sorry but no VC to much compost for the depth of pot.

I spoke to my mate today (well we had a pint together and put the world to rights). He confirmed that he bought them from a specialist supplier for growing palm seedlings and has promised to look out the info. Don't hold your breath but it could happen some time in the next millenia.

Until then, why not plastic milk containers? Litre size? You could cut them to whatever depth you wanted and they're square. Just another weird and wacky suggestion from the nutty brain of VC!!
PS I don't drink milk so this is not an advert!

Not whacky at all VC my mate used 1ltr water bottles sprayed black before he got his hands on these pots.

Apparently one of the problems with growing palms from seed is that to start with they are all root and very little top grow or so I am told.

Well peeps the info has arrived and it is not good news I am afraid.

The pots are American made by Andersonpots.com

I am told that at this time they do not have a UK distributor. One of the American distributors is on line at Stuewe.com/products, but they appear to sell mainly to large nurseries by the case.

Back to using the very large yoghurt/soup pots for me then, can't remember what capacity they are, but they are deep enough. I ask everyone at work to save them for me.

Oops sorry Colin, where are my manners? Thanks very much anyway. Pity we can't take the idea to Dragon's Den!

Sounds good to me Auntie Flo or maybe one of our large suppliers could pick up the idea and run with it.
