sowing wild flower seed

Hi all
I have a small patch of land where it's virtually impossible to plant anything due to the roots of my fruit trees. I was wondering whether it would be worthwhile sowing some wild flower seed around this area to brighten it up ? It gets sun all day and there are already some plants (which look like wall flowers) so I guess SOME things will grow there ! Any ideas or feedback much appreciated.

Of course you can grow wild flowers around fruit trees - think about what would grow in such a position in nature. Although you say it has sun all day what about the leaf cover in summer. I have dappled shade under my fruit trees with snowdrops, bluebells and primroses in spring, pink campion, foxgloves and dog daisies later and all sorts of other flowers which have just appeared! You can't just scatter wild flower seeds though. Take some time to clear patches of ground and sow them directly on the soil. Red poppies and daisies would look good too.

I have cleared the area and am ready to sow (a bought) wild flower mix. I also have some primroses.... and have planted some smallish sunflowers, so hopefully will look good. : )

Sounds lovely NM. With luck, the primroses will spread for next year too. Some cowslips have just started flowering here and I'm hoping they will spread.
