  • Seeds started off in cotton/kitchen roll

Quick question - when/how do you transfer seedlings from the cotton/kitchen to pot and compost?

I did my toms both ways - soil and cotton just to back myself up. I'm now seeing a single root on many of the cotton seeds, and at a loss of when to move them to a pot.

Oh, and lesson learned: cotton has been a BAD idea for me lol, the root has grown into the cotton on a fair few if the seeds, and I forsee many casualties extracting them! Kitchen roll next time!

use tweezers to transfer the seed to the soil, (pinching the seed pod and not the root) you chould transfer them when you can just see the root as the roots grow quick, plant them about 1cm below the soil surface with the root pointing down and cover with soil - keep them in a warm place, ideally on a windowsill.

i hope that answers your question.

Thank you so much, that does answer my question.

Oh, and yay! I get to do something! Have been in a holding pattern for a few days, just tending to seedlings too small to pot up etc. Not much to do.
