  • turning ericaceous compost into 'normal' compost

I have a big bag of erica that I don't need right now, but I do need mpc, so I was wondering if I could mix the erica up with mpc and growbags to dilute the acidity?

Ericaceous is lime free so you need to add lime. In my carrot mix, I add 2ozs lime to 2 buckets of peat and 1 bucket of fine sand. Judge what you need from that

Most plants won't mind ericaceous compost: except your brassicas

Perfect excuse to buy some blueberries IMHO.

Got two blueberries already, and my balcony is chokablok already, but yeah, I was wondering if I should just opt for more blueberries but then they'll grow and I have a pretty good feeling this place will be a jungle come summer as it is, so no space really.

Except brassicas?? Really? I went researching for acid-loving plants before coming here for advice, and the list was pitiful! That means I can fill up the new bed with the erica and my remaining normal compost and it should be fine - plant the brass in the other bed, which I've planned out to do so anyway. And maybe add some lime if they look to be suffering or simply move the sufferers over to the other bed.

          Thanks
