  • Cats and Windows

I have a kitty who likes to watch me work on my windowsill vegetables. She is curious for now, but I'm afraid in the near future she is going to get her and my veggies into trouble. Do you have any suggestions on preventing kitty vs. veggies?

I wish I knew! I have 6 of the little *ahem* 'angels' who find most plants delish. Ive kept most of my seedlings hidden away on my bathroom and only put things out under a propagator. It does help though if you keep them supplied with cat grass. Ive got tubs in front of valuable plants and planters in their run and they tend to nibble on this out of preference (the dogs too!).

Easier to keep them seperate as I found the hard way
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Try and make it impossible for her to get to the sill. However, that's probably not realistic. Perhaps you could put her food down for her while you play with your plants by way of a distraction.

Other than that have a back-up plan to replace any casualties!

We have a cat called Pud and when he was a few weeks old we found him missing a back leg after being attacked and adopted him

Luckily he is a bit thick and quite lazy to be honest! He never bothers jumping up to things or digging things and likes sleeping in 'his' planter full off reeds (the onese you find up sand dunes) so he leaves the veggies alone! Although a few years ago he did used to sleep unfer the foliage of a fennel bulb plant during the summer that i had in the back garden of my old place... he all ways smelt lovely of anniseed though!!!
GYO Photos, Pests, Problems and luvvin it!!

Ah, cat grass. Now, why didn't I think of that? I bet she'd love some cat grass. I'll see if I can find a way to block her from the sill as well, but right now it's not looking easy.

Keeping cats away from window sills is impossible for me so I rely on the fact that things that stay in the same place for a while become boring to them. Move something an inch and it instantly becomes the most interesting thing in the world We have reached an uneasy truce in which I promise to keep the central part of the window sill free and they will do their best not to trample on or eat my plants. I don't think they're totally committed to keeping their side of the bargain.
