  • Question for container growers - pot risers / feet

    Hello all

I've rescued some bins from my office for the veggies. I'm planning to drill some holes in the bottom for drainage (don't tell Mr BP, he'll hide the power tools !).

For those of you who container grow, where do you get the pot feet / risers from for a reasonable price? Or is there anything from the house that I can make use of ?

I've been having a look on line but can only seem to find the more expensive / decorative terracotta ones which would seem a bit pointless.

    Thank you !

    BP

I use bits of paviours, or slabs. As long as they're the same height it doesn't matter what you sit your pots on.

We've been doing up pur house and doing building work, so we had lots of odds and sods of bricks left over. The other half managed to break them into similar size pieces so I use them to raise my pots of the ground.
If it comes from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't!!

Sounds as if I need to hunt around some building works!

You could also use a couple of bits of wood.

Big bins or little bins? Bottle lids word as feet for smaller containers.

I use two canes laid on the ground to support some of my containers.

Canes are a great idea Colin.

They are just normal sizes office desk bins - I must confess that I did get a few odd looks sat on the train with 10 of them!

Doh, I was going to suggest canes as I always have bits that have broken and I'm far too mean to chuck them out. I didn't know if they would take the weight of pots or if they would stand being damp most of the time though.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

The 99p store had wheeled risers last time I went in.

I always use bottle tops just to lift it off the ground.

All very ingenious, but how could you resist these?

I saw some like this last time I was at the garden centre and just couldn't say no! (they were much cheaper than the Amazon ones I hasten to add).
