I don't soak them. In fact I don't bury them in the compost either.
After spraying the compost with water I press the seed onto the surface so that the bottom half comes into contact with the compost. I then place a sheet of newspaper over the loo rolls ('cos that's what I use) to stop too much evaporation and ignore them for a few days. You will see when the root comes out and finds it's way down. Very soon after that the shoot will appear. At that point I will cover the seed with 1/2" of dry compost ,
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right. Edited: for typo, thakns VC
Never soaked them in my life, just push them slightly under the surface of multi purpose compost in root trainers. Keep them inside and a few days later they're up and running. Real doddle. Only year I had problems was when somebody else had over watered them and they'd rotted.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
i have never soaked them, just pushed them into the compost (normally a 15 cell module tray) and they've always come up fine .... except this year .... the mice have scoffed 2 lots and the 3rd sowing seems to be doing nothing .... yet ....
When I first read this I was thinking of popping sweetcorn to make popcorn and couldn't think how it would help it to grow. Must read more carefully! And no never soaked mine either.
