Feeding veggies

So .... I have grown all this lovely stuff from seed. Everything tells me I need to feed my lovely plants.

I have liquid feed ready for the toms and othr fruiting stuff - My question is this - How on earth do I feed anything with a liquid when everything is too wet already?

Sorry if it sounds daft, but my Sungold toms have their first buds on and the strawbs are flowering and I want to feed them. (toms are inside still but strawbs are out)

Don't whatever you do strengthen the dilution thinking that the wet soil will dilute the plant food down to the correct ratio ! ! Just follow the directions on the box/tub/drum/packet/sachet. I think I've covered most on 'em.

Hiya sarah rance. You could use a dry plant food. Growmore (not organic), chicken manure (organic but probably from battery chickens) or blood fish and bone (organic).

Just sprinkle a little around the plants and rake it in.

Be careful not to use to much, especially if the plants are still young.

Presumably your tomatoes are still in the greenhouse, therefore you control the watering. Generally speaking don't feed tomatoes till they have set fruit. Where are your strawberries (tubs, pots or open ground)

You use the liquid feed (diluted) in place of water ~ but don't water if it's not needed, of course

(plants don't need as much feeding, or as much watering, as you're probably thinking)

My strawbs are in containers on the patio. They have been watered to death and certainly dont need any water at the moment. I think I'll have to add a dry feed to the pots instead.
I'm just worried they'll run out of nutrients before the rain stops

Sarah, my containers strawbs have just been awarded there 50 mtr front crawl award. I used an old tip to try and dry them out a little 1/2" hole in the compost, tightly roll some newspaper and push this into the compost. Leave it sticking out a couple of inches and providing the rain keeps away this will act like a wick and help evapourate the water.
