Peas and frost

The BBC is forecasting 2 C tonight for my location. Should I cover my inch-high peas in the garden? If so, will bubble wrap or newspaper work? I haven't any fleece and don't have time to go grab some tonight.

I've waited so long for these dang peas to come up, I'm not losing them now!

A few twigs placed along the row and bubble wrap draped over should protect your peas better than newspaper.

Thanks, Tony - I've got loads of bubble wrap left over from a recent house move, so I've tucked them in nice and cosy. I hope!

I never bother with peas, personally.. I've had some in flower buckets on an east facing exposed wall for a couple of months now, they've been fine so far!

I find peas pretty hardy little chaps, my have been out since 15/03 and are now 2ft high. However we don't get the deep late frosts that you experience.

Looked at mine in the ground this morning and they're fine. Still haven't planted out the ones still in their rootrainers in the stayput, I think subconsciously I must be using them as insurance!

I didn't actually see any frost this morning and the little guys looked ok when I unwrapped 'em. I admit I may be slightly unhinged about these peas. They're the thing I most wanted to grow this year...and the first thing I planted...and they've been soooooooo slow!

At this time of the year, the min temps occur around 4am, so you may still get a frost and by the time you wake up it's all gone.

Mine have been very slow too... I planted them a month ago and they're only 2-3 inches tall

To be fair, there may be a wee bit of difference between Scotland and London.
