Hi, my first 2 sewings of courgettes have committed suicide. I've persevered and so far so good with sewing no 3. In fact without getting too optimistic I'm starting to think about the fact I may after all have courgettes to plant out this year (Yeah!!) I remember reading somewhere on here that you can tell which way the stalk the courgette fruits from will grow by the position of the 1st true leaf? Cant find the thread but it would be useful to know.

My allotment neighbour kindly gave me a couple coz mine didn't want to germinate. The very next day, two of my own courgettes germinated! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Last year was my first year growing and the first thing I grew was courgettes and they were a doddle to grow. They've weren't particularly a favourite before but home grown courgettes are so much better than shop bought that Im hooked now! Just hoping they work out this time round.

Thanks for the recipe Bren! I just adore pickles but have never tried pickling courgettes so I'll be giving that recipe a try for sure this year. I did have quite a lot of success pickling my extra runner beans last year so I've been stocking up on spare jars ever since!
