  • Whoops!

Just been out and put tomato feed on the veggies and it was only after I watered everything I read on the label that I was supposed to keep it away from the foliage.
I went over the beds with plain water afterwards but have I damaged anything do you think??
Also how often should I be using my plant food?? (I know not to feed the toms til they have developed more).

It's the roots that need the water KG not the leaves, although I know that Growmore can be something of a foliar feed. I doubt you'll have done much damage if the veg is in the shade. I only start with tomato feed when the tomatoes are flowering, what other crops have you got in the beds?

Why are you using tomato feed on plants that aren't tomatoes?

I use tomato food on potatoes but only because I checked the labels and the NPK ratings for tomato food and potato food were identical.

Niether tomorite or growmore are foliar feeds and both can damage greenery with growmore being the worst offender. One feed with tomorite you should get away with but in future feed the roots.

As to using tomorite on crops other than toms,Pa is quite correct. It is high in potash and therefore good for the development of all (fruits) including potatoes, aubs, peppers and strawbs even runner beans will benefit when the pods are growing.

Well, phew! Hopefully a one off mistake wont do too much damage. I figured tomato feed would be ok for most things as I remember my father using it for just about everything and he always had a really successful fruit and veg plot.
Im still not sure how often things should be fed though..Once a week, a fortnight, a month??
