may i ask where you are novicejim? (may be handy if you put it in your profile ) when did you plant your onions? i ask these questions mainly because mine are no-where near the size of yours!, anyway it is best to pull them when they have all flopped over and starting to turn yellow, then you leave them on dry soil for a few days, then hang them up somewhere!

I didn't plant these but have some outside rather than in the polly tunnel and half the size of these the tunnel and plot i have adopted after the owner died and his wife wants to keep it going but in his memory but isnt really into it.

Do you know if they were planted this spring or last autumn?

Ok, like i said before just wait till they all flop over and go yellowish, the dig them up and leave them on the surface of the soil for a couple of days, then hang them up somewhere dry (i put mine in the shed) - hope that helps - by the way you should be proud of them, they are looking very good!

if you're hungry, you can pull up and use them as you need them .... otherwise wait till they flop over ....
