Used Coffee Grounds

Hi

Our office is offering free used coffee granuals from the costa coffee machine. Now I know there good for going round roses etc but are they any good on veg or fruit trees? Does it need diluting etc and what would the volume to water ration be.

There are several threads on here about using coffee grounds as fertiliser - have a search for "coffee".
It seems to be used as grounds, not diluted with water.

Anything you put on the ground this summer would soon be diluted naturally by the amount of rain we have all been having recently.

It's been almost tropical in its intensity here.

I don't know if it's coincidence or not but shortly after I put coffee grounds around my rhubarb it started to go bananas.

Hmm you got me wondering.....what about unused coffee?

I've got several bags that I was given about 5 years ago, but not having a coffee machine and also not liking coffee, they're just sitting in the cupboard....??

I think they are quite acidic. Brewed ones have lost acidity. Never used them fresh do to speak

We have a regular and almost unlimited supply of coffee grinds and have been adding it to our compost bin.

It tends to go mouldy if you leave it too thickly, or in lumps, on the beds.

Me, I sprinkle it lightly on the lawn, the beds ... I also use it as a covering layer in my dog poo dalek, and I find it works really well as an accelerator if used to cover dog poops on the ground: they disappear quicker with a covering than if they're left bare
