Peppers turning black?

I had one which had a brown patch where it was rotting so I remove that one.

But what is going on here?

Do you get black sweet peppers?

I think they are sweet peppers Californian wonder.

The ones in the picture on the packet are red and green no black ones.

I have seen black ones on the web but not in shops, they are usually red green yellow orange etc...

There is a time-lapse here of a chilli turning orange. But then is a chilli a pepper?

That one does not turn black but then it's not turning red, rather orange.

It looks fairly healthy, it does look like a colour change as opposed to rotting
so I guess I will just have to wait and see how it turn out.

There is one turning red here but a bit different from mine.

Its starting to ripen be the looks of things. However if you want success with any of your plants you are going to have to get some bigger pots.

Thanks, mine are a different shape to them round not pointed. It looks fairly healthy, it does look like a colour change as opposed to rotting, so I guess I will just have to wait and see how it turn out.

I don't think it has out grown it's pot, the camera angle makes the pot look smaller than it is.
I did get half decent sized cucumbers from plants in the same pots.
I wlll see if I can find a bigger pot. Or put it in the ground.
Two cucumber plants I put in the ground died do I don't think the pot was the problem there.

I have a cloche thing I made maybe I can resurrect that, the wind got the
better of it last time lol.

found this time lapse. i think I can see it turning black before it goes red but it's
hard to see, but I put it full screen and a band of black does seem to lead the red.

Mind you it is slow progress, however I think I could put that plant in the house
on a sunny window sill, I think that should speed things up, but then they don't
get as much sun like that.

It's about 7 inches tall and 8 inches diameter, but the soil is about an inch/inch and half from the top.

When I have looked at it before I did not see much in the way of roots, however when I looked
at my lettuces in smaller pots the roots are right to the edge and basically there is as much root
to be seen as soil. The pepper was noting at all like that. Also it does not wilt like the lettuce
so I think it can suck up plenty of water.

I mean basically it is just not warm enough for them so they are not going to be monster
plants like some of my tomato plants have become.

Any how I have just brought it inside along with another one which is just starting to
produce a pepper, so we shall see how it like it inside where it is nice and warm

But less sun obviously.

Well I have taken them inside and put on a sunny window, the black seems to have faded to green and they seem to be a bit bigger so not to sure what happening but they look healthier I would say bright and shiney. Maybe they will be green peppers? Do they turn black then green????

Most sweet peppers start out green and they color up later if they are colored varieties. Red California Wonder go from green to red...if they are a green cultivar then they will stay green. Keep them warm!

They're starting to ripen. Stick with it and if weather/temperature permits you'll have red peppers

It seems a bit like when they were out side they though oh it's getting cold so better ripen up quick but now they are in a warmer place they think they can grow a bit more first. Nearly all the black has turned back to green apart from a few faint bits.

I have a few other plants that could do with coming indoors, but one is in the ground lol.
I could rebuild a stick and plastic cloche I made I suppose.
