Are you sowing seeds in Lancashire or Shropshire Lynne?

Shropshire Rusty Lady, in the greenhouse. Probably over next weekend onwards.
Lots of molehills in the garden.

It isn't proper lawn as such, and the mole hills are mostly on the orchards and on the paddock. There aren't many areas of formal lawn really for such a big garden.

When I first constructed raised beds in the garden (before I had the allotment) OH and I went around the area with a dustbin and 2 spades in the back of the car collecting mole hill soil from verges etc. Yes .. passers-by did think we were mad ...but it was a darn sight cheaper than buying topsoil! And when mixed with compost, manure and some sand, it made a really good start to my beds.
