Grass seed mixes - is there a recognised standard?

I was looking at a grass seed catalogue and they list a load of different mixes of grass seed A1 professional bowls A2 quality lawns A4 low maintenance A6 Supra shade etc

Though I haven;t contacted them about my teeny lawn, it looks like the company deal with large scale customers rathe than consumer market.

Are these A* designations used by other grass seed companies? When I was looking in a shop today for grass seed it seemed a bit wooley what mix of seed was actually in the box.

I have no idea if there is an 'Industry Standard' but I know some of the bigger Turf Companies produce different mixes, depending on the type of location the grass will be used on. Shady, drought-tolerant, full sun, heavy usage - sports pitch, for example.

If you have a small lawn that needs to look good & wear well,get "on the good side" of the green keeper at your local golf course,a few beers will normally secure a suitable amount of putting green seed
