  • i'm so excited

Yes I know this is sad but I know you will all understand.

Went down the lottie on Sunday and guess what!!!!!

I have potatoes growing, I was so excited I ran around the beds to see how many have come up.

They are my earlie pots they went in very late but I dont care they're grownig, only small tops at the mo about half a dozen leaves on each plant.

Totally natural reaction in my view, PT - my fellow allotmenteers are quite used to me doing a little dance when something exciting happens - yesterday it was because our first pea flowers had come out.

Doesn;t stop them thinking I'm a bit crackers, tho'!

Well done that man! It's a great feeling isn't it? And there's always something to celebrate too. What will the next thing be to emerge?

Isn't that why we ALL do it. You don't have to be mad, but it adds to the fun. I've been a grower from seed (flowers) for years, but it still amazes me when I see those first tiny, frail leaves emerge from the compost. Wonderful.

My neighbours would've seen me twice a day checking the ground for signs of shoots, then when the first ones appeared I dragged th Mr for a look.

            He feigned interest pretty well!

well done tp, I agree, totally natural and normal reaction. Just wait till I see my first broad bean forming, there may be 200 miles between us but you might still be able to hear my shrieks of joy

Yo Percy, you think that was exciting? In about 14 weeks you'll be hovering over the pan waiting for the first of your home grown spuds to cook, then eating them. THAT'S exciting. Happens to me every time I cook something I've grown.

congratulations.... that feeling is a wonderful one isn't it. But that feeling will continue with every leaf it grows and then when it comes time to harvest.... your excitment grows more with the anticipation of eating them. Keep up the good work and enjoy the fruits of your plot.

Always exciting! Whether its the first leaf, the first fruit ......... and even the last fruit!

I'm growing gooseberries for the first time this year and every morning the first I thing I do is check the flowers to make sure they are still there. Don;t know what it will be like when the first gooseberry appears!
