Wilted true leaves on Courgette Plants

Like a real over enthuasist novice, I clearly started too many courgette seeds (Black beauty) too early. Will learn for next year - start mid April, fewer seeds as all germinated and grew easily...

I now have 7 plants with the 3rd/4th true leaves just emerging.
I keep them in the house over night and put outside only on reasonable days (not windy/heavy rain as we get here in East Anglia) to harden them off.

Yesterday, I transplanted them up from 7cm square pots to 12cm square pots.

On two of the seven plants, after potting on have,the true leave that emerged first have completely fopped/wilted. Any advice/causes?:confused

Will plant out perhaps 2nd week of May when I hope we've had the last frost this year

Did you put them straight outside after potting on? I always put mine in the shade for a couple of days after transplanting to give them chance to recover, specially if the roots have been disturbed.

Another possibility is that the rootball compost that was in the original pot has dried out.

Think it was because rootball compost was dried in original pot. Will bring them back in for a few days too.

Stand the whole pot in a deep bowl of water so that you soak the new and old compost, then stand to drain and place in the shade.
