Scotch Bonnets (I think!) don't have any heat?!

Hello,

I started growing what I believe to be a Scotch Bonnet chilli plant a year ago to date, it's coming along amazingly and I've got a few red chillies on the plant now, but after picking a few, none of them have any heat whatsoever. They taste very fresh, with no spice at all.

Firstly, from my photo, are these actually Scotch Bonnets, and secondly, how long should I have to wait before feeling the burn! Haha!

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there !!

The pics look very much like red bishop crown chillies rather than scotch bonnets. I have grown a few and they have very little heat in them. Hope that helps

But it almost looks cross pollinated maybe with a normal bell pepper

Yes could be..this is a red bishop crown looks similar but as you say could be a cross with a bell

Chillies need to have hot sun on them in order to get some heat. I grew some last year that had no heat at all, nothing.
A month later, after being on a hot sunny (south facing) windowsill, they nearly sent the OH to hospital
