I want to plant 2-3 Cherry trees and have a few questions if anyone can give me some advise I would be grateful.
1stly is it better to plant in November this year or after frosts next year?
Apart from a small price difference what are the pros and cons of getting bare root or a potted plant if any?
Again apart from price is there any benefit in getting a 1 year old plant over a 2year old one?
From what I can tell Stella is a good variety of eating cherry to get would you recommend any others over it (more info on site later)?
From my own research I have found the following suppliers come recommended, are they good and is there better or should I buy from a smaller more local company?
Blackmoor Nursery, Keepers Nursery & Reads Nursery
Lastly is what I want going to work. I want 2 trees to go at the back of my garden and grow to roughly 2.5-3M where 1 of these is it will be close to the back fence so will have the bottom 1.8m (or entire tree until it reaches this height) in shade in the afternoon will this limit it to much for it to grow well or ever fruit? The soil in most of the garden is heavy clay but where I want these is where I cleared alot of overgrown bushes/small trees and the soil is much darker I assume it was improved when these old plants were put in and alot of fallen leaves have decayed on it over the years aswell. Does this soil sound suitable and is there anything I should do to it between now and planting? Gisela 5 root stock sounds like what I need is this correct?
Thank you in advance for any information/advice.
