  • Wind Damage

One of my stems have snapped, including the beginnings of flower buds, leaving 3 or 4 inches above ground . There is a leaf on the bottom section; will my Sharps Express potatoes be ok?
    Regards

Ps I'm growing these spuds in 150 litre garden bags

Welcome to the Vine Trolleydolly, I'm sure your potatoes will be fine. They're made of pretty tough stuff.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

They will usually re-growfrom side shoots if a main stem is broken, but this is another problem that occurs more when potatoes are grown (or forced) in pots instead of being planted in the open ground. I'm a firm believer in planting potatoes in open ground, unless you particularly want Xmas new potatoes.

I have been sobbing out the window at my strawberries all day. Is so windy there is no way fleece or any other protection would have stayed put.

Am dreading having a proper look in the morning.

I am too, but we just don't have the space, hence setting up the Falkirk Allotment Society. Fingers crossed everything will be ok
