    Hi Luke and welcome.
There are lots of veggies that you can plant now - some ideas here http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...uly_73380.html
Think about the things that you like to eat and start with those. You might also want to grow something that is quick maturing - like lettuces and salad leaves - so that you don't have to wait months for your edible reward!!
If you're unsure about anything, please ask! We like questions

Right - first off, welcome to the Vine, Lukehib.

What you can grow might depend on where you are - could you edit your profile and stick in your (approx) location? It'll help us to help you.

Now we want quick growing veg - so from seed, lettuce, chard, 'leaves', pak choi, radish. Maybe fast growing carrot (an 'early' variety) and peas or french beans if you're lucky.

If you can get hold brassica seedlings (quite big ones now) from the garden centre, they can be put in now - but you must net them unless you want them eaten by pigeons and caterpillars.

Also, in a few weeks, you can put in some over-wintering onion sets (from Wilko or the garden centre)

By the way, do realise that once you've started, that 1x3m plot is going to be hopelessly small, and this time next year, your lawn will be seriously compromised....

That's small, so don't bother growing veg that is cheap to buy in the shops: use your limited space to save you money, by growing more expensive crops, eg. fruit, salad etc

It's def. worth getting it up and planted now, you can use the time until spring to do a lot of practising and learning.
Then come spring, you will be an 'old hand'

I didn't understand that bit. It doesn't get the sun at all?

Veggies & fruits really need full sun (south facing, ideally)
