Can't see too well on my screen but are they the potato fruits? If so then don't eat them as they're poisonous but I think there was a thread somewhere about saving the seed for planting and growing on. Never done it personally but it might be worth a look.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

They don't look like potato fruits to me - they form from the flowers.

They do however look like baby potato plants - a bit like the bulbils that form on some lilies. Never seen anything like it on my plants though.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad you all think they look odd. They are not the seed pods that form after flowers. This is Sarpo Mira BTW, don't know if that makes a difference. They are more like the side shoots you get on tomatoes but with the funny little vase shape at the base.

It looks almost like the stem is behaving as if it is underground and making potatoes

I think if I had them I would try detaching them and planting in pots. That looks like new little leaves on top of the "bulbil".

Will do, you are basically repeating the conversation I had with myself. Someone has to come along who knows what they are don't they?

Hope so, but I just can't resist potting something if it looks like it might grow

How about asking the Sarvari Trust if they know anything - since they're Sarpo? They may have unusual habits

I think it could be a sign of Black Scurf/Stem Canker. I've noticed similar on a couple of different growing seasons, luckily only affecting a few plants each time. Rhizoctonia Canker and Black Scurf of Potatoes
