Any frugal vegetable seed buying tips?

Around 3-4 months ago I went to the garden centre where I got to buy seeds for next year at 50p a packet but I did not arrive quick enough and those ealrier in the pecking order got their fill before I could.

So I was wondering where people manage to save some money when buying their seeds for the next growing season?

If you join an allotment group or society you can usually get discounted seeds from the suppliers- our allotment group gets discounted seed and seed potatoes from Kings Seeds- they send out a booklet and price list around Sept/Oct, we tick what we want, work out the cost and the chairman sends in the order as a bulk lot.

It's also worth checking other garden centers though, our local one discounts seeds to 50% from about September until the new stock arrives, I'm just out now to get some now.
