I tend to get my from work. Maybe you could ask a few friends if they have any going at work that could be used. I'm doing the same thing at the moment. I'm determined not to let the weeds win.

I've tried covering one of my raised beds with toilet rolls, they are not much use if you lay them flat but fill them with a carrot and they breakdown eventually.

I find adding cardboard is good for all the trace elements my ground is generally lacking, sulphates, and oxides, surfactants and bleach. They ensure that my ground is clear of weeds and jolly clean to boot.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

                Cheers for the recommendations everyone

I think I could live with a few chemicals in cardboard considering air pollution and things like that Japanese nuclear power plant leaking radioactive waste into the ocean :O

Maybe it could make a future visit to a fish and chip shop more interesting maybe!

I always pick up a few when I go to the supermarket. I've asked before now if I can take some from the shelf-stocking cages and they can't offload it onto you fast enough. The banana boxes fold out into a long strip, and the wine boxes are really sturdy. The banana boxes also make good hen beds
Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?
