  • Cucumbers!

    Hullo!

I read somewhere on a thread about stopping the cucumber plants after 6 leaves or something. I have searched and can't find it now.

All my plants have at least 2-3 tiny mini cucumbers and are all flowering well, climbing all over several canes and poles in their pots (they are actually my sons but he has me just as obsessed with them as him, we never expected them to get this far!)

They alll have at least 6 leaves so what do I do to stop them??? They are showing lots of new leaves so not sure how I am meant to do this.

    Any help much appreciated!

    Hi Noidea
Dunno where you read about stopping cukes at 6 leaves
This is similar to the thread about pinching out the growing tips of tomatoes after X number of trusses have formed.
I never bother pinching out toms or cukes and have never suffered as a result. If they wanna grow, let 'em grow.
If you find the thread, can you put a link on here as I would be interested in reading it to see what the reasoning is.

Yip... that's pretty much what I meant. I keep coming across it various places so assumed that I should do it.

Should I just leave them be???

I would be inclined to follow the RHS advice unless consensus on a forum like this said otherwise (ouch that fence hurts)
