Hi. I take over another half plot on the 1st April. The guy who has it now is giving this half up and just keeping his full plot on.
I went up today to see if I could catch him to have a word about the shed etc. Thing is there is rubbish everywhere. Old plastic bottles, old bamboo sticks everywhere, bits where beans have planted and just left.
Thing is do I tidy it all up I can't just leave cause its a tip. He has left a load of canes behind the shed still and I mean a load, do I take his old trellis stuff down and either dump it or put it on his new plot?
His new plot is fairly near by but I don't want to move some of my stuff over and then him coming back across saying its his stuff.
    Any thoughts anyone.
    Thanks

It's not your problem until then.
Once you have signed for it then it is all yours.

You have to give him the chance to take what he wants til it's yours.
Then I'd ask him if he's going to take anything else, before you assume it's yours for the taking.... including the rubbish

Give him a few days to collect anything he wants after you've spoken to him - hard cheese after that!

Yeh...maybe give him a couple of weekends to take his stuff and then anything left after that becomes yours. You don't want to fall out with him!

Might be worth mentioning this to the person in charge/ committee to make sure they are aware of / agree to your kind offer, and then you know they will back you if thinks get a bit out of hand?

If the stuff is still there by April 1st I would start a pile in one corner (trellis, canes to begin with) then bag up the rubbish.....when you next see him point it out ( politely) If he says he doesn't want any of it, offer to HELP get rid of it? If he wants some of it,hopefully he will have the manners to remove all!
Good luck with your new (ad)venture!

Id say that if you are eanting all the bamboo canes then surely thats worth doing some tidying up? Obviously we do not know the extent of the messyness. but if its not too much then it would be silly to fall out with him aboit it. enjoy your new allotment

Thanks for the advice everyone. Can't go down today cause I've got to go and see my mom. So going down tomorrow and hopefully see the guy who sorts out all the plots. Still haven't had my council bill for it yet so don't know what number I am.
The plots have been all mixed up over the years with people only wanting half plots etc. So don't know the number of it to discuss it with him.
So hopefully will be down there again Tuesday to plant my spuds and see who I can see then.
                Thanks again

Hi. Managed to catch up with previous holder today. Have got key to shed and he says if I want the canes then that's fine. So have said I will keep them where they are and he can use them if needed.
Still needs a good tidy up so hoping to do it Monday/Tuesday as my hand should be healed up by then. Another allotment holder has said he is having a bonfire on Monday so if I need anything burning then he will do that for me. So things are progressing.
While I was down on Friday I saw the guy who sorts the plots out and he was actually stood at the plot looking at it before I got there. Didn't say much just that I was hoping to get the rubbish off asap. He said not to worry about it. Just take my time with my hand.
